Construction Update WIS 20

With the traffic switch and ramps re-opened the project is now basically broken up into three parts. The descriptions below mostly cover the remaining work for the project this year and is all very weather dependent.

East Troy – WIS 20/County ES intersection

  1. Need to complete the signal to remove the wood poles we installed last year. With the wood poles gone, we will be able to finish the concrete islands in the intersection and wrap up this portion of the project for 2024. With the signal bases going in today, we are looking at possible signal turn on early/mid October.

WIS 20 – Bell School Road to Honey Creek Rd (County Line area)

  1. This part of the project will decide when we are able to re-open WIS 20 between East Troy and Waterford. Below are the operations that need to occur. As of now it’s looking like the last week in October when we can re-open WIS 20, but we will try and accelerate the schedules whenever possible.
    1. Complete the retaining wall – next 2-3 weeks.
    2. Patch WIS 20 (remove bad areas, place rock, and pave back).
    3. Install new curb and gutter along the south side of WIS 20 adjacent to the hill
    4. Remove the top 2” of roadway and place new asphalt back down
    5. Place a high friction surface treatment on the sharp corner between the CN railroad tracks and Honey Creek Rd South.
    6. Install new guardrail along the north side of WIS 20 (the Honey Creek side)
    7. Install Rumble Strips, Pavement Markings, and Signage

WIS 20 from County L to WIS 83 (minus the County Line area)

  1. Complete everything we can ahead of the other areas so when the longer duration sections become available, we can turn things around faster. Most of this stretch will start looking finished this week or next, but since we cannot reopen WIS 20 until the county line area is completed it will look like not much else is happening.
